About the Role

We are currently seeking a compassionate, experienced, and reliable mature Female Disability Support Worker to support a participant with complex physical, neurological, and mental health needs. Location - Dandenong

This is a high-support, person-centered role requiring strong manual handling skills and a trauma-informed approach. The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering the participant while maintaining safety, dignity, and quality of life.

Participant Preference:
To support the participant’s comfort - she has a strong preference for mature female support workers. This preference is based solely on personal comfort and the nature of the support being provided. We warmly welcome applications from mature female candidates with life experience & women returning to the workforce who are looking for rewarding, meaningful work in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with mobility support, including transfers, repositioning, and movement around the home and community.

Provide personal care assistance while ensuring dignity and comfort.

Monitor and respond to seizures according to the participant’s care plan.

Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the participant’s daily quality of life.

Maintain accurate records and report any concerns to the relevant team members.

Requirements

Native English speakers preferred (as per participant preference)

Female candidates only (participant’s personal preference)

Strong manual handling and mobility support skills

Knowledge and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practices

High-level empathy, patience, and compassion

Ability to remain calm and responsive during seizure events

First Aid and CPR (seizure management training is a plus)

Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check

Driver’s license and reliable transport

Desirable:

Nursing background or nursing experience

Experience working with clients with neurological or psychiatric conditions
