About the Roles

The Research Associate/Fellow will be responsible for the provision of high-quality research bioinformatics support and management to collaborative research programs led by the Director: Centre for Cancer Biology and the Senior Research Fellows.

The roles will be embedded within the Gene Regulation Bioinformatics Laboratory and supervised by the Senior Research Fellows, with a focus on the analysis and interpretation of transcriptomic data, including bulk, single-cell, and/or spatial RNA-seq to investigate gene regulation, cell fate, and developmental signalling. Fellows will work closely with experimental researchers in the Lymphatic Development Laboratory and Neurovascular Research Laboratory to explore biological questions, interpret results, contribute to the design of follow-up studies and prepare data for presentation and publication.

To Be Successful You Will Need

Level ARAS

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in transcriptomic data analysis and relevant methodologies (e.g. RNA-seq, clustering)
• Proficiency in R and/or Python programming for data analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including scientific writing
• Demonstrated previous experience and competency in the management of research projects, collaborations and research governance
• Demonstrated experience and competency in the preparation of peer reviewed publications, and conference presentations

Level BRF

• Masters, PhD (for Research Fellow) or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, genetics or a related field
• Demonstrated experience in transcriptomic data analysis and relevant bioinformatic methodologies (eg. RNA-seq, clustering, single cell and/or spatial transcriptomics)
• Proficiency in R and/or Python programming for data analysis
• Ability to work collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team as well as working independently
