About you

You are a recently graduated PhD or early-career researcher with practical field and soil experience in a relevant scientific discipline. Self-motivated and curious, you work well both independently and as part of a team. You bring a strong foundation in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication, and are ready to contribute to impactful, applied research.

About the role

Reporting to the Professorial Lead at the Future Industries Institute, you will contribute to research on the project titled “Rejuvenating agricultural soils to enhance productivity, resilience and carbon sequestration using enhanced rock weathering” funded by the Climate-Smart Agriculture program. You will collaborate with James Cook University and industry partner Carbonaught, providing scientific and technical support to achieve the project’s objectives.

To be successful you will need

  • PhD or relevant qualification in soil science/agronomy or related field
  • Experience in fieldwork, sample preparation, and analysis
  • Skilled in soil biogeochemistry techniques and instrumentation
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in teams
