About the opportunity
The Senior Finance Officer role is a key position in the central Finance Research Support team and has specific responsibilities in relation to the efficient and effective financial administration, management and reporting of the University’s research projects.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the accurate setup, maintenance, and closure of research projects in RAS and the Finance System, ensuring contractual and budgetary requirements are met.
- Prepare and submit timely financial reports and acquittals to funding bodies, ensuring compliance with grant conditions and resolving any reporting queries.
- Undertake monthly reconciliations, allocate indexed funding, oversee transaction approvals, and support audits to ensure integrity of financial data and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Undertake annual Australian Research Council and National Health and Medical Research Council reporting and support broader reporting obligations such as Higher Education Research Data Collection and Australian Bureau of Statistics surveys.
- Deliver proactive support and financial advice to researchers and staff, while improving systems and documentation through collaboration, training, and continuous process enhancement.
What we’re looking for:
- Sound financial, analytical, and commercial skills, including problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability and proficiency in the effective use of computer applications and business systems.
- Proficient in the use of Finance systems and ability and willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible and collaborative manner and to work to conflicting deadlines, using sound judgement and initiative to prioritise workload.
- Demonstrated commitment towards a customer focused approach to service delivery and to continuous improvement.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,878 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 plus 17% superannuation.
