The Opportunity:
- Full-Time | Ongoing contract of employment
- $130,000 - $150,000 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
- Chadstone Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport
The IT Program Department is the central hub for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all technology-driven initiatives across the organisation. This department is solely dedicated to ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of IT projects that align with our business objectives and strategic roadmap. Its core function involves orchestrating resources, managing timelines, mitigating risks, and fostering collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and external vendors. The IT Program Department acts as the single point of accountability for project performance, driving consistent application of project management methodologies (such as the Holmesglen Project Management Methodology) to transform business requirements into successful, value-adding technological solutions.
The IT Project Manager at Holmesglen is a pivotal role within the IT Program Department, responsible for the successful end-to-end delivery of diverse IT projects, including critical infrastructure upgrades, identity and access management solutions, and other key IT system implementations. This role will lead cross-functional teams, manage project lifecycles from initiation to closure, and ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The IT Project Manager will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in delivering complex IT projects using both structured (e.g. PRINCE2, PMBOK) and Agile methodologies. They will also actively contribute to improving Holmesglen’s project delivery maturity through consistent application of best practices, governance, and stakeholder engagement.
As an IT Project Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of IT projects, from planning and initiation through to execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Coordinate internal staff, external contractors, and vendors to ensure project deliverables meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating as necessary to the IT Program Manager.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Holmesglen Project Management Methodology and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate effective communication across all project participants.
- Oversee the implementation of critical IT systems, including infrastructure enhancements and identity solutions.
- Drive project quality assurance and ensure successful handover of solutions to operational teams.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Degree in Business, Information or Technology systems or similar discipline with significant relevant experience.
- Current project and/or program management certification.
- Demonstration of significant and relevant program and project management experience without certification may be considered.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end IT projects across infrastructure, enterprise systems, and network modernization, with strong capabilities in project planning, scheduling, risk management, resource allocation, and contractor oversight—particularly within public sector or education environments.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile) and tools (e.g. MS Project, Jira), supported by relevant certifications and experience in change management, benefits realisation, and grant-funded initiatives.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical audiences and produce clear, concise business documentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in vendor management, procurement, and contract delivery, with a sound understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, and risk mitigation strategies in IT project delivery.
- WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and also a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
