About the role

This is a full-time Chef Sous role with the Italian and Sons located in Canberra ACT 2600. As Chef Sous at Italian and Sons, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of this bustling Italian restaurant, contributing to the creation of exceptional dining experiences for our customers.

What you'll be doing

Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and quality control

Assist and train kitchen staff, delegating tasks and ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation

Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new and innovative menu items, incorporating feedback from customers and food trends

Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations

Assist with inventory management and cost control

What we're looking for

Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Chef Sous or in a similar leadership role within a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environment

Proven track record of successfully managing kitchen operations, and staff, and creating innovative menu items

Excellent time management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a team

Thorough understanding of food safety and health regulations

Passion for Italian cuisine and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
