About the Role
As our Senior Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of our front desk operations and providing leadership to the reception team. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong administration skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and prioritise competing demands. You will work primarily at the Fitzroy North clinic but have flexibility to provide additional coverage during periods of annual leave and personal sick leave at the Fitzroy clinic.
Previous experience in General Practice is ESSENTIAL.
Key Responsibilities
Welcoming and assisting patients in a courteous and professional manner
Managing appointment bookings and clinical schedules
Overseeing daily reception operations, including opening/closing procedures
Medicare/Work Cover/EFTPOS billing and payments
Supporting the Practice Manager with staff training, mentoring, and daily workflow coordination
Handling patient enquiries via phone, email, and in person
Ensuring privacy and confidentiality standards are upheld
Liaising with GPs, nurses, and external providers
Contributing to a supportive, positive clinic culture
About You
Minimum 2 years experience in a GP receptionist or medical admin role
Experience using medical software (Best Practice and Zedmed ideal)
Strong understanding of Medicare billing and patient data confidentiality
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Calm, professional, and well-organised under pressure
High attention to detail and accuracy
Reliable, punctual, and committed to patient service
