THE ROLE
We are seeking a reliable Recyclable Waste Material Sorter to provide efficient day-to-day support for our Harbour Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Coffs Harbour.
We are looking for someone with the ability to learn quickly, demonstrate a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, and have excellent time management skills.
JJ’s is an essential services industry, offering stability to employees and reliability to our customers.
This position is a permanent, full-time position (Monday to Friday).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sort Recyclable materials into allocated stillage etc
Be involved in a range of activities which may include:
- sorting cardboard and paper product
- sorting and processing co-mingled glass, plastics, aluminum cans and steel cans
- removing contamination (non-recyclables) from conveyor belt to the waste stream
- support fellow team members on the processing line when required
- maintain a clean work area and be involved in site cleaning duties
Co-operate with Supervisors/Managers to ensure that customer product is processed in accordance with quality requirements
Report to the Leading Hand on any item which in the employee's opinion requires maintenance, or is showing undue wear
Weigh and record bales accurately
Ensure that the quality of recycled material bales, are in accordance with market/customer demand
Understand the acceptance criteria for recycled material and ensure that the sorting process is of the standard required by the customer

Good hand / eye co-ordination - able to stand for long periods during the shift
Great team player
Follow directions well
Forklift licence and Front end loader ticket - desirable
