As our Principal Financial Modeller, you will become Council's go-to expert in advanced financial modelling and forecasting. Reporting to the Service Manager, Financial Planning, you'll provide technical leadership and strategic support across Council - integrating complex models with our corporate budget, contributing to our Long-Term Financial Forecast, and delivering actionable insights that shape the region's future.

You'll be stepping into a pivotal leadership role at a time of change, innovation, and growth. You'll be surrounded by passionate professionals committed to shaping the future of Redlands - a vibrant, unique region that balances stunning coastline, community values and environmental protection.

Guided by our Values, you will:

Develop and manage various complex financial models across rates, utilities, water pricing, and special / separate charges.

Lead and enhance the Long-Term Financial Forecast, ensuring models are aligned with the financial management system and reflect current policy and market trends.

Deliver strategic financial analysis to Executive Leadership and Councillors, including scenario analysis, earned value analysis, and net present value modelling.

Partner with stakeholders across Council to ensure accuracy and validity in models

Support organisational goals through mentoring and the development of a high-performing, rewarding team environment.

What You’ll Bring

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

A degree in Business or Accounting with eligibility for CPA Australia or similar

Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and complex financial modelling

Advanced Excel skills (including scenario analysis, macros, dashboards)

Proven ability to explain complex models in plain language to non-financial stakeholders

A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and build capability in others

Experience working with financial and asset management systems.

Desirable but Not Essential

Knowledge of Local Government financial frameworks and regulations

Familiarity with utility pricing in a regulatory environment

Understanding of National Competition Policy (NCP) Guidelines and Local Government Tax Equivalent Regime.

Eligibility

You'll hold Tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting or equivalent which allows membership to CPA Australia or equivalent professional body

You'll have knowledge and experience in the application of Australian Accounting Standards
