Company
CGB Agri is a large-scale almond production enterprise which prides itself on its operational excellence. CGB has its farming operation based fifteen kilometres west of Griffith in the Riverina which known for its agricultural produce, largely based on irrigation sourced from the Murrumbidgee River.
Position
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Almond Orchard Assistant Manager will lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the almond orchard.
Together with the Operations Manager they will be responsible for the development and implementation of an annual business plan and budget, which meets or exceeds agreed targets. This will involve overseeing the planned operation to achieve budgets, coordinating contractors and establishing and leading a team of horticultural operations staff.
Key Responsibilities
· To provide organizational support to the Operations Manager
· To manage and carry out best practice irrigations, being responsible for water budgets and planning, maintenance of pumps and infrastructure (drip irrigation), orders, delivery and monitoring to ensure that irrigations are both effective and efficient.
· To manage staff and direct responsibilities in an effective manner.
· To gain rapport and engagement with colleagues and contractors ensuring a high level of productivity from all team members.
· Develop an undertaking of an annual maintenance schedule to ensure that all machinery and infrastructure operate at full capacity.
· Hands-on management of harvest to ensure the crop is harvested at the optimum time and is carried out as efficiently as possible, thus reducing the risk of loss to the business.
· Contribute to the overall profitability of the enterprise via expansion and development, new technologies, efficiencies, risk management and best practice operations.
· To develop, implement and maintain the orchard policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
· Minimum 5 years practical experience in Almond Orchard Management
· A proven track record of professional development
· Ability to manage staff and work within a team
· Strong communication skills both written and oral
· Knowledge of the nut industry is essential
· Intermediate computing skills and experience in using Microsoft office (word, excel, and outlook)
· A current drivers licence
Remuneration
$78,000 - $88,000 per year
