The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Learning and Development Officer to provide a critical role within Corrections and Justice Services.
About the Business Unit
Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security prison focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. Western Plains features multi-purpose infrastructure which is adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care. About the Role
This role is part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, a team dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners. Leveraging the technical ability and professional expertise of trained subject matter experts, the team supports the smooth functioning of prison operations while prioritising prisoner rehabilitation and safety.
The Learning and Development Officer is responsible for providing administrative support and expert advice in relation to training, assessment and development activities for staff. This will enable the entire prison workforce to have access to training and development programs best suited to their role.
The position will support activities ensuring compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) standards and the coordination of trainers and assessors to ensure alignment with the Department of Justice and Community Safety's Learning and Development unit.
The position will require direct prisoner contact and you may be required to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays and attend to urgent work as required. Appropriate remuneration will be applied for the above in accordance with the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024.
Some of your duties will include:
- Work in partnership with the project team through the development, commissioning and operational phases of establishing the new facility.
- Accurately maintain relevant specialist databases for all CV Qualification enrolments, providing timely input of training and assessment data to allow appropriate reporting to funding bodies.
- Assist with analysis of data and the production of relevant reports on service delivery to relevant stakeholders including DJCS RTO and CV.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in the use of training record databases.
- Experience in the administration of training and assessment services that complies with AQTF standards whilst meeting organisational quality processes.
- Experience working with the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software would be highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to complete is desirable.
