About the role

As a Tax Accountant at Millar Teitzel, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive taxation and accounting services to our diverse client base. Reporting to the Directors, this full-time position is located in our Mareeba, QLD 4880 office.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and reviewing complex individual, partnership, trust, SMSF and corporate financial statements and tax returns

Conducting tax planning and providing strategic tax advice to clients

Researching and interpreting tax legislation, rulings, and case law to ensure compliance

Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office on behalf of clients

Collaborating with our team in an open office environment

Staying up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations

What we're looking for

Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce, with a major in Taxation

Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation

Minimum 5 years of experience in public practice

Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation laws and regulations

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills

Proficient in Xero tax software and other accounting/financial apps

Exceptional communication and client relationship management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
