About the role:

As a Tax Accountant, your role will focus on delivering high-quality tax compliance, tax planning, and financial reporting services. You will work directly with clients on complex tax matters, prepare and review financial reports and tax returns, and provide strategic advice in accordance with Australian taxation legislation. This position is a hands-on accounting role—not a management role—and is best suited for experienced accountants seeking to deepen their tax expertise. Your core responsibilities will include:

Using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks to prepare and manage client work, including but not limited to preparing and reviewing income tax returns and financial statements for individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts.

Providing tailored tax advice and strategic planning for high-net-worth individuals and SME clients.

Ensuring compliance with all ATO lodgment obligations, including BAS, IAS, FBT, and annual income tax returns.

Researching and interpreting complex tax legislation and providing written or verbal advice.

Conducting CGT, Division 7A, and trust distribution analyses in line with current tax rulings and legislation.

Communicating with clients and the ATO to resolve tax-related queries and ensure smooth lodgments.

Supporting the implementation of tax-effective structures and strategies.

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes in Australian tax law and accounting standards.

About you:

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Completed or near completion of CPA or CA qualification.

Minimum of 2 years’ relevant taxation experience in public practice in Australia.

Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax law, including income tax, FBT, GST, CGT, Division 7A, small business concessions, and other tax legislations.

Proven experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and tax returns.

Competency with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and the Microsoft Office suite.

Bilingual communication skills (English and Mandarin) are preferable. The role involves direct engagement with a large number of Mandarin-speaking clients, requiring fluency in both written and spoken Chinese to effectively explain complex tax matters and maintain strong client relationships.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure.
