About the Role:
Brisbane Boys’ College is seeking a dynamic and innovative Film, Television and New Media Teacher to join our college on a fixed term basis from 7 October to 4 December 2025. This fixed term, full-time role offers the opportunity to educate and nurture students across Years 7–12, including QCAA Senior Film, Television and New Media.
About you:
As a BBC Teacher, you will:
Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in senior Film, Television and New Media and secondary Media in alignment with the ACARA and QCAA syllabi.
Integrate academic excellence with student wellbeing, helping boys build confidence and resilience.
Collaborate with the Head of Department and team to enhance curriculum design, resource management, and student outcomes.
Contribute actively to the broader life of the College, including co-curricular involvement, College events, and professional learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum
Deliver engaging and effective lessons aligned with ACARA and QCAA syllabi (Years 7–12 Media and Senior FTVNM).
Develop and implement internal assessments and maintain QCAA compliance (Units 1–4).
Maintain and manage subject-specific resources and media equipment.
Keep accurate records of student progress and assessment.
Pastoral and Community Engagement
Support the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of students.
Engage positively with families, providing timely feedback on student progress.
Promote and uphold the College’s Christian values and caring culture.
Professional Contribution
Collaborate with department colleagues to refine teaching practices and share resources.
Contribute to College life through active involvement in staff meetings, Chapel, assemblies, camps, and co-curricular programs.
Participate in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.
Essential qualifications/skills/attributes
Relevant tertiary qualification in Education with specialisation in Media Arts or related fields.
Demonstrated experience in teaching Media Arts and/or Film, Television and New Media at a secondary level.
Strong digital literacy and experience with media production tools and software.
Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to the holistic development of students in a Christian context.
Mandatory requirements
Adhere to the PMSA Code of Conduct.
Comply with College policies, procedures and training requirements, including those related to occupational health and safety, risk management, child protection, and confidentiality.
Positively support the College’s traditions and Christian ethos.
All teaching staff must maintain current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
