Software Engineer/Developer – Technical Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer/Developer with strong Technical Analysis expertise for our client based in Canberra. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulatory and compliance-based applications, preferably in the health sector, though experience in other regulated industries will also be considered.

Key Requirements

1. Technical Skills

Strong experience in software design, development, and technical analysis within commercial or government IT environments.

Holds a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Skilled in assessing technical artefacts for completeness, purpose-fit, and regulatory alignment.

Demonstrated proficiency in AI model development, training, and validation.

Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) risk assessments.

Experience implementing IEC 62304:2006 (Medical Device Software – Software Life Cycle Processes).

Familiarity with ISO 14971 (Risk Management for Medical Devices) is highly desirable.

Provides clear technical input into policy and reporting deliverables, summarising complex concepts into high-level documentation.

2. Analysis and Research

Experienced in assessing and researching software products from diverse sources.

Capable of identifying regulatory risks and gaps in vendor-provided documentation.

Maintains a strong understanding of software-related compliance frameworks, including SaMD (Software as a Medical Device).

Formulates conclusions aligned with policy and regulatory standards.

3. Stakeholder Engagement and Teamwork

Works autonomously and collaboratively to respond to complex stakeholder queries.

Translates complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.

Comfortable in hybrid work environments and effective in cross-functional team settings.

Demonstrates strong communication skills and contributes to team knowledge sharing.

Industry Experience

Experience in regulated environments (e.g., health, medical software, finance, aerospace) is highly desirable.

Familiarity with regulatory or legislative compliance requirements is preferred.

Personal Attributes

Receptive to feedback with a continuous improvement mindset.

Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaborative, with a willingness to mentor and share knowledge across the team.

Highly Desirable (Not Mandatory)

Experience working in or with a regulator.

Understanding of health software standards and frameworks.

Familiarity with compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
