Our client, a large Government organisation are seeking a Data Engineer to join their team.

The organisation undertaking a data capability transformation program, unlocking the full value of healthcare data to improve patient care, improve the
effectiveness and efficiency of services, meet compliance obligations, and enable research and innovation, through fast, smarter decision-making.

A program of work is underway to develop reusable data products for self service reporting and analytics, enabled by centralised data governance and data management on a modern data platform (MS Fabric) using Medallion architecture.

The role of Data Engineer will be responsible for developing Data Products as part of a self-organising team comprising a Product Owner, Data Modeling Lead, two other Data Engineers, Tester/Quality Assurance and Business Analyst focused on a meta data dictionary.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Under the direction of the Project Lead, contribute to the detailed design, development and documentation of Data Products.
   
2. Collaborate with Data Product team members to codesign, codevelop and test Data Products. Optimise and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure performance and reliability.
   
3. Collaborate with Product Owner and Data Reference Groups to analyse and understand data requirements and develop high-quality data products aligned to standards (data governance, data architecture and security).
   
4. Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data engineering and MS Fabric.
   

Selection Criteria:

1. Critical thinking skills understanding the value of Data Products to meet organisational goals, especially in the highly regulated Healthcare sector.
   
2. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
   
3. Working knowledge of Python and SQL
   
4. Experience of agile and DevOps practices.
   
5. Excellent collaborator, communicator and team player with a commitment to learning new skills.
   

Highly Desirable:

1. Experience with health data analysis and engineering.
   
2. Experience in PySpark
