Are you ready to lead transformative infrastructure projects that shape the future of the City of Canning? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to come onboard and support the delivery of major infrastructure projects as we look to continue to make the City of Canning a welcoming and thriving community for all.

About the role

Working closely with your Service Lead, the Senior Project Leader will be a pivotal role in ensuring complete end-to-end management and oversight of complex and high value projects across the City. We’re going to need an established project professional who is adept at delivering on time, within scope and of course, within budget, to join the team at Canning. Make no mistake, this role will be demanding but on offer for you, is that you will be joining Canning at an opportune time and will be able to make a real impact across a number of projects that will benefit the wider community.

You may have noticed a few roles we have advertised in our Project space and that’s because there is an exciting and newly formed Project Management Office that you will be joining. So if you’re ready to make a lasting impact on the future of the City of Canning, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing:

In conjunction with the Service Lead and Project Leader, you will be a key team member in managing the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the City, including the flagship Canning City Centre Urban Regeneration Program. Some other exciting projects you will be involved in include the Civic Precinct development and the evolving Rail to River Precinct Project, the Canning Vale Sports Complex, and the redevelopment of indoor courts at Riverton, plus other place-making projects.

Engaging with all Directorates, project partners, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders at every stage of projects. You’re going to be a connector of people and compliance, and you will be able to do this consistently across projects.

You will be well versed in your knowledge across project management, governance structures, financial oversight and sustainable planning and development. You will understand how all of these areas interact and influence project delivery.

You will be a trusted source of professional advice for stakeholders in coordinating information related to infrastructure projects.

What you will bring to the role:

A ‘big picture’ style mindset. As mentioned above you’re going to be an important team member in driving and leading the delivery of key projects. To do this, you will need to know enough of the detail while being able to identify and keep key milestones on track across a number of projects.

You’ll have gained this mindset in part from having a minimum of six years’ practical experience complemented with tertiary qualification/s in urban planning, project management, architecture, civil engineering or related discipline.

You will be extremely well versed in financial reporting of major projects and be comfortable managing multiple complex projects.

You are able to seamlessly shift from working autonomously and working in a team. The needs of this role are very fluid and we will need the same flexibility from you.

Consummate communication skills; your ability to engage with stakeholders from all levels is critical to this role. You’re able to influence and facilitate across a broad number and style of stakeholders.

While not essential, if you are familiar with the below, these would be particularly useful in this role:

The nuances of operating in a local government space.

Experience delivering projects related to urban regeneration and public realm improvements and;

The TechnologyOne™ - OneCouncil enterprise system.
