Within the Behavioural Science Division, the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer (CBRC) leads applied behavioural research in tobacco control, skin cancer prevention, diet and healthy weight, alcohol harm prevention and cancer screening. CBRC also leads the evaluation of priority cancer prevention and screening programs and services housed within Cancer Council Victoria, including high profile public communication programs such as Quit, SunSmart, and LiveLighter, and provides research and evaluation services for other Cancer Councils and external organisations.

About your opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Research and Evaluation Officer to join CBRC. Reporting to the Senior Research Fellow (Evaluation) based in Perth you will collaborate closely with the CBRC team and Cancer Council Western Australia’s Cancer Prevention and Research Division project partners to:

  • Implement selected priority cancer prevention research and evaluation studies pertaining to sun protection and early detection of cancer
  • Conduct statistical analyses, interpreting data and communicating results to inform programs
  • Prepare research and evaluation reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts and conference presentations
  • Build, develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external project partners
All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A tertiary qualification in psychology, health promotion, public health or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a research role providing coordination, data analysis and report-writing, including experience using statistical software such as Stata or SPSS.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively to complete tasks in agreed timeframes.
  • Excellent writing skills including a demonstrated ability to write research and/or evaluation reports and journal publications, with good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to facilitate relationships and clearly communicate research and/or evaluation findings.
