Position overview
The Senior Technical Advisor is responsible for providing high-level technical plumbing advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders, responding to issues and enquiries, developing documentation, reports and briefings, liaising with industry, supporting technical committees/boards and providing specialised technical services.
What we are looking for:
- Licenced or registered for a class or classes of prescribed plumbing work under the Building Act 1993 (Victoria).
- Knowledge of the plumbing regulatory framework including the Building Act, Plumbing Regulations and National Construction Code and other relevant legislation.
- Experience providing quality technical advice to a range of stakeholders, including the ability to build, maintain and negotiate outcomes.
- Ability to communicate information efficiently and effectively to internal and external stakeholders over the phone, in person and in email.
- Written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports.
About the BPC
The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's new regulator for building and plumbing.
It brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation.
Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation will come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance. These services will now part of the BPC and will be fully integrated over the next 12 months.
