Position overview

The Senior Communications Advisor is responsible for leading the management and execution of communications strategies for projects and campaigns that have internal and external impacts.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, the position will play a lead role during an exciting period of transformation, as the Victorian Building Authority merges with Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria and the Domestic Building Insurance unit of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority to become the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC).

The position will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, including senior leaders, to ensure communications material is clear, accurate, engaging, timely, and aligned to the organisation's strategic plan and ambition.

What we are looking for:

  • Lead the development and implementation of effective communications strategies that deliver strong project outcomes and improve awareness and understanding of the building and plumbing regulator.
  • Execute communication plans and strategies in a timely and considered manner. This includes considering reputational risk and having an understanding of building and plumbing regulatory matters.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with proven experience in the development and implementation of communication plans.
  • Understand and identify stakeholder requirements to inform the development of communications that target specific audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role preferably at a regulatory body.

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is the primary regulator of Victoria's building and plumbing industries, ensuring compliance with relevant laws that protect the Victorian community and promote confidence in the built environment. The VBA manages practitioner registration, monitors industry standards, and enforces compliance through inspections, investigations, and audits. It also supports industry professionals by providing guidance, education, and resources to uphold safety, durability, and sustainability in building and plumbing work.
