The Governance team plays a vital role in supporting Council operations and elected officials. As a Senior Governance Officer, you’ll ensure the effective operation of Council decision-making processes, coordinate key meetings, and provide high-level support and advice across the organisation.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate and prepare Council and Committee agendas and minutes
- Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 1995 and related legislation
- Manage the implementation of Council resolutions and monitor deadlines
- Provide internal consultancy on decision-making processes
- Attend weekly meetings, often after hours, and record proceedings professionally and confidentially
- Support Electors’ meetings
What You Bring:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a passion for governance and public service. You’ll ideally bring:
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in governance or related field
- Strong knowledge of meeting procedures and local government legislation
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent written communication and report writing abilities
- Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Experience preparing agendas and minutes in a legislative environment
