The Governance team plays a vital role in supporting Council operations and elected officials. As a Senior Governance Officer, you’ll ensure the effective operation of Council decision-making processes, coordinate key meetings, and provide high-level support and advice across the organisation.

What You'll Do:

• Coordinate and prepare Council and Committee agendas and minutes
• Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 1995 and related legislation
• Manage the implementation of Council resolutions and monitor deadlines
• Provide internal consultancy on decision-making processes
• Attend weekly meetings, often after hours, and record proceedings professionally and confidentially
• Support Electors’ meetings

What You Bring:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a passion for governance and public service. You’ll ideally bring:

• Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in governance or related field
• Strong knowledge of meeting procedures and local government legislation
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent written communication and report writing abilities
• Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
• Experience preparing agendas and minutes in a legislative environment
