We're on the lookout for a motivated, hands-on Ranger to help restore and protect the unique natural landscapes of the Atherton Tablelands. If you enjoy working in nature, making a difference, and being part of a dedicated team, read on.

About the Role:
Rangers are at the heart of protecting Queensland's natural heritage. They play a vital role in ensuring that our national parks, forests and reserves are well-managed, accessible, and safeguarded for future generations.
This role is centre stage in vegetation restoration, focusing on:
• Propagating and planting native vegetation.
• Preparing and maintaining sites for ecological restoration.
• Supporting and working alongside TREAT (Trees for the Evelyn and Atherton Tablelands) volunteers.
• Collecting field data and contributing to restoration planning.
• Maintaining nursery operations and infrastructure.

You'll be part of active restoration and rehabilitation projects across the QPWS&P estate - transforming degraded areas back into thriving natural habitats.

Where You'll Work:
Based in the lush, mountainous Atherton Tablelands, you'll be surrounded by rainforests, wildlife and wide-open spaces. But be prepared - some parks have limited vehicle access, and conditions can be remote, rugged, and physically demanding. This is a role for those who aren't afraid to get their boots dirty. You'll work across the Northern Region and may be called to assist in nearby parks and estates as needed.

A Day in the Life of a Ranger:
No two days are the same! Depending on the needs of the operation, Rangers work across five key focus areas:
• Pest Management.
• Fire Management.
• Estate Management.
• Visitor Management.
• Assets and Safety.

This variety means you might be planting trees one day, coordinating volunteers the next, or helping maintain trails and infrastructure in between. You'll be encouraged to develop your skills across all these areas and take pride in meaningful, hands-on conservation work.

What We're Looking For:
We want someone who:
- Loves the outdoors and working with nature.
- Has experience with native plant propagation and nursery work (or is eager to learn).
- Thrives in a physically active, outdoor job and is comfortable in remote or tough terrain.
- Works well in a team and can collaborate with volunteers, locals and other rangers.
- Is organised, proactive and brings a problem-solving mindset to their work.
- Is a clear communicator, can follow work programs and help guide junior staff if needed.
- Is passionate about conservation and committed to working safely and inclusively.
