About us:
Independent Living Victoria is a values-driven organisation dedicated to supporting people to live independently in their homes and communities, offering 24-hour care across all of Melbourne for clients with complex care needs including bowel care, catheter care, ventilator management and enteral feeding.
About the role:
This is a casual, ON-CALL, role that offers flexibility. You MUST be available to work active and non-active night shifts, as well as early AM shifts.
You must remain available and ready to commence a shift with limited notice.

Paid kilometres when transporting clients in your own vehicle.
Shadow/Buddy shifts.
The role will involve:
Personal care (showering, toileting, and personal hygiene assistance)
Complex Bowel and Catheter Care
Manual handling and/or the use of equipment to support mobility (wheelchairs or hoists)
Community Access
Assistance with medications
Light domestic duties and meal preparation
Essential criteria:
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with High Intensity, complex care clients, including proven knowledge in Complex Bowel Care, administering suppositories.
Experience with Spinal Cord Injuries is highly desirable.
Experience with Personal Hygiene, Catheter Care and Hoisting/Manual Handling.
Proven experience working with Challenging Behaviours (BOC),.
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
Flexible availability, including AM, PM, active and in-active nights, as well as the ability to work short and long shifts.
An understanding of the disability/community services sector and person-centred approach.
Transferable life/work skills along with a caring and compassionate nature.
A genuine interest in the wellbeing & inclusion of people with disabilities.
To be successful in this role, you must hold or be willing to obtain the following prior to employment:
A valid Australian Drivers Licence and regular access to a vehicle with full comprehensive insurance.
A qualification in Disability Support, Individual Support, Aged Care or Nursing.
NDIS Worker Screening Check.
The legal right to work in Australia.
A current Police Check.
A current First Aid & CPR certificate.
A current Manual Handling certificate, completed by a RTO.
Other various courses relating to the NDIS and in-home care.
Ability to provide 2 professional references.
