The Role

The Data and Information Directorate (DID) is seeking a proactive and well-organised APS5 Project Support Officer to help deliver operational and service improvement projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, enjoys problem solving, and is confident managing a range of administrative and coordination tasks across multiple business functions. As a key member of the team, you will work under limited direction, exercising sound judgment, demonstrating strong attention to detail, and remaining flexible as priorities shift to meet business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating administrative and coordination tasks.
  • Engaging and coordinating with functionally diverse teams.
  • Meeting governance and reporting requirements.
  • Supporting business planning and related activities.

You will also interact with a variety of stakeholders and collaborate effectively with ADF personnel, APS staff, and Defence contractors to coordinate Project ICT system requirements and provide support and training. This is a full-time, permanent position based in either Russell Offices, Canberra or RAAF Williams, Laverton.

About our Team

The Performance Information Assurance (PIA) Team is an enthusiastic, high-performing, and people-centric team within the Data and Information Directorate (DID). The team is responsible for uplifting project management technologies to enhance capability management and reporting for Defence Delivery Groups. This is an exciting opportunity to join the PIA team, which delivers computer applications that support project management and capability reporting for the Australian Defence Force—spanning the Submarine, Maritime, Land and Aerospace domains.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of project planning and performance processes, adhering to agreed standards and procedures.
  • Assisting in preparation and execution of project testing, evaluation, and acceptance activities.
  • Applying project management methodologies effectively to administrative and technical tasks, ensuring compliance with legislative, policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Researching, drafting, and preparing briefs, correspondence, and reports, including contributing to committee submissions.
  • Proactively resolving problems by identifying viable solutions.
