About the Role

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to plan and implement the glass bin program, and review, identify and implement improvements to our kerbside waste collection service. You will be a strategic thinker with demonstrated skills in the fields of waste management, environmental planning or climate change. This hands-on design role will see you review, plan and implement kerbside waste reform programs, and develop educational and engagement plans to ensure our community is informed and engaged in the process of kerbside reform.

The main responsibilities of this position include:

• Plan for and successfully implement the glass bin program across the municipality.

• Review the existing kerbside waste collection service and identify any opportunities for improvement.

• Develop and implement an education and engagement plan for identified kerbside waste reforms, including the glass bin program.

• Collaborate with government agencies, private sector partners and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of kerbside waste reforms, including the glass bin program.

• Facilitate community consultation sessions for kerbside waste reform programs, including the glass bin program.

• Provide guidance, support and education to residents, businesses and other stakeholders regarding identified kerbside waste reforms, including the glass bin program.

• Assist with development and implementation other strategic waste management programs, projects and policies across the municipality.

About You

You will be a tertiary-qualified in the field of strategic waste management (or related discipline). To be successful in this role you will have well-developed communication skills and demonstrated experience in the planning and implementing waste management related programs and initiatives. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to solve complex challenges in a timely manner, engage with the community, collaborate within a supportive team environment, and the ability to work independently with confidence and initiative.

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an 'international criminal history check'), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
