About the role

The Mary Valley Rattler is currently seeking an experienced Kitchen Hand, the available position is casual, with an immediate start. Weekend and some evening availability will be required.

Reporting to the Operations & Marketing Manager, this role focuses on providing our customers with an excellent café experience by delivering outstanding culinary services including food preparation, meal assembly and quality control in the Rattlers', Rusty Rails Café. Applicants must be well presented, reliable and preferably have previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ability to work under pressure, be a great team member and maintain a positive attitude, is essential.

About the Mary Valley Rattler
The Mary Valley Rattler (MVR) is a not-for-profit organisation which provides public access to a heritage rail experience, promoting Gympie and the surrounding region. MVR operates a fully restored steam locomotive and restore period carriages, departing from the beautifully restored Gympie Station on a 46-kilometre return journey Amamoor, through the scenic Mary Valley.

The Mary Valley Rattler - Rusty Rails Cafe is fast establishing itself as a favorite meeting please for locals and visitors alike and is open 7 days a week.

General responsibilities

Deliver quality and consistency in all food preparation and menu items.

Work productively alongside other staff and volunteers as required.

Deliver start of day and end of day procedures including cleaning.

Comply with all OH&S regulations, Food Safety requirements and standards.

Knowledge, Experience and Requirements

Demonstrated food handling and preparation skills and a genuine passion for working with a team.

Adhere to practices which minimize food wastage and spoilage.

Ability to work within and contribute to enhancing existing processes.

Managing numerous tasks simultaneously with good attention to detail

Capable of working in a fast-paced environment

Reliable and consistent approach to the workplace

A QLD Working With Children Check and police check. (or willing to obtain)

Desirable

6 months experience in a similar role

Food safety qualification or willingness to obtain.

Available to work weekends and some evenings.
