VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 34 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

The ACCO Traineeships Pilot aims to address ACCO’s significant workforce shortages focusing specifically on the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB), Mental Health (MH) and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) workforce. It is modelled on the successful AOD Traineeships in six ACCOs in 2024. Those ACCOs reported that the model was flexible, easily adaptable and enabled self-determination.

The Senior Project Officer will assist ACCHOs, Students and the RTO to onboard and manage Traineeships across the Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Workforce Traineeship, The First Nations Aboriginal Health Traineeship and other policy initiatives related to traineeships across a range of disciplines in line with the Skills First and ASQA standards.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience as a Project Officer. You will have sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and strong communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.

Understanding of the Victorian ACCO sector (specifically VACCHO’s member organisations)
