CK Recruitment are currently seeking a a skilled and licensed HVAC Technician to join our clients Fixed Plant team.

The role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in compliance with NSW regulations and Australian Standards.

The successful candidate will ensure optimal system performance across Council-managed facilities while prioritising safety, sustainability, and efficiency.

This is a casual position with full time hours, there are opportunities for ongoing, temp to perm positions.

Key Responsibilities

Routine Maintenance: Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure reliability and compliance with NSW and Australian Standards.

Repairs and Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems and associated equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Installation and Upgrades: Install, upgrade, or replace HVAC systems and components in line with industry best practices. • Compliance: Adhere to all legislative requirements, including Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws and environmental regulations.

Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities for energy savings and recommend upgrades to improve efficiency.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work completed, including service logs, compliance reports, and safety documentation.

Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address HVAC concerns promptly and professionally.

Emergency Response: Provide support during HVAC-related emergencies as part of an on-call roster.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent, nationally recognised qualification).

Full Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCtick), issued by the Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC).

NSW Restricted Electrical Licence for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or full Electrical Licence).

White Card (NSW Construction Induction Card).

Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence.

Preferred:

NSW Gas Work Licence (desirable but not essential).

Certification or training in energy-efficient HVAC systems and sustainable technologies.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in the HVAC industry, specifically in commercial and public sector environments.

Proven experience with the maintenance and repair of systems including chillers, split systems, packaged units, and ducted systems.

Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) for HVAC monitoring and control (desirable).

Demonstrated experience complying with WorkCover NSW and WHS legislation.

Skills and Competencies

Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and regulatory compliance, including the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines for refrigerants.

Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in maintenance and repair work.

Communication: Ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders, providing clear updates and recommendations.

Time Management: Proven ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and respond to urgent requirements.

IT Proficiency: Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other software tools.
