EL2 Director – Medicines Safety & Infection Prevention

We’re excited to be recruiting for a dynamic EL2 Director role on behalf of a high-performing government agency that’s leading some of the most important work in Australia’s health system.

About the Role

As Director, you’ll report to the Chief Medical Officer and lead three nationally recognised programs. These programs sit at the heart of national healthcare safety and quality, influencing policy, practice, and patient outcomes across all states and territories.
You’ll also lead a team of experienced project managers, clinicians and technical experts who are dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based work — including large-scale stakeholder consultations, national standards development and strategic planning.
This is a role for someone who can think big, work strategically and still roll up their sleeves when needed.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

• Strong experience leading major health-related projects or policy reforms
• Deep knowledge of Australia’s healthcare system (federal or state level)
• Excellent writing, stakeholder engagement and consultation skills — including with senior health leaders
• Confidence managing teams and budgets, setting strategy and delivering complex national programs
• Ideally, a clinical or health background (nursing, pharmacy, allied health, health policy, etc.)

Location & Conditions

• Location: Sydney CBD (3 days in office, 2 days WFH)
• Salary: $144,162 – $170,679 + 15.4% super Note: An Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA) may be offered for candidates who can demonstrate senior-level experience and capabilities.
• Type: Ongoing EL2 (APS equivalent)
