We're seeking an agile Director of Production to provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a dedicated team of producers at a leading experiential events agency in Sydney. This is a critical role for someone with a calm, composed presence and the ability to command respect through experience, expertise, and steady leadership—not hierarchy.

The Role:
Split between team leadership (50%) and hands-on project support (50%) this role is perfect for a highly experienced senior Event Professional looking to lead from the front—not necessarily running full projects, but lending deep expertise where needed. You’ll report directly to the VP of Production, APAC, acting as their right hand on the ground while they oversee regional initiatives.
You’ll help shape big ideas, oversee project resourcing, and contribute to the team’s creative and logistical success across a range of high-impact brand experiences.

• Act as a steady mentor and sounding board for a high-performing production team.
• Manage team resourcing with precision—assigning the right people to the right projects and clients, at the right time.
• Lend expertise on RFPs and new business pitches—especially in early-stage planning, scoping, and budgeting.
• Step into projects as needed to troubleshoot, advise, or elevate delivery quality—especially big, complex shows.
• Guide operational and process improvements, ensuring scalable, sustainable production practices.
• Foster a “glass-half-full” culture that thrives on problem-solving, agility, and creative collaboration.

Candidate profile:

• 10-15+ years in experiential event production, with strong exposure to large-scale, high-stakes events/shows (including end-to-end project management, complex budget management and project resourcing)
• Proven leadership of production/project teams in fast-paced, agency environments.
• Clear communication skills, calm energy, and the ability to inspire trust and respect.
• Confidence managing budgets, timelines, and vendors, with solid tech/AV knowledge.
• A collaborative, optimistic approach that encourages growth and ownership across the team.
