Your new company
This Authority is an independent corporate government entity governed by an independent board. Established in 2023, this Authority is overseeing the planning and development of a transformational rail network, connecting Australia's East Coast cities. They are currently seeking an EL2 Director for an initial 6-month contract with a possible extension, can be based from their Sydney, Canberra or Newcastle offices.
Your new role
The Director will act as a thought leader, overseeing advisory services, strategic partnerships, and customer experience enhancements to position the High-Speed Rail network as a leader in modern transport innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of customer, operations and maintenance requirements, ensuring robust documentation to guide project execution
- Lead the refinement of the product, procurement and operational strategies
- Maintain oversight of emerging trends, positioning the agency as a thought leader in rail operations, demand forecasting and megaproject delivery
- Manage key relationships with government agencies and key industry stakeholders
- Provide high-level strategic advice on transport policy frameworks, ensuring initiatives align with national priorities
- Prepare brief papers, strategic reports, influencing high-level transport planning and policy decisions
- Project management and delivery oversight
- Oversee contract management, financial management
- Anticipate future requirements and adapt project frameworks to accommodate political, strategic, and operational demands
What you'll need to succeed
- Expertise in demand forecasting, including interpreting passenger behaviours and travel preferences to inform project planning
- In-depth knowledge of rail systems
- Strong proficiency in planning, evaluation, and management of operational and maintenance contracts
- Technical advisory oversight - capability to lead advisory services, ensuring compliance
- Deep understanding of transport regulations, accreditation standards and infrastructure policy.
- You must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain government Baseline Clearance.
