PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Fitter / Welder portion of this role is responsible for stainless steel and mild steel fabrication in a busy and fast paced workshop environment. The Fitter / Welder will provide light fabrication for manufacture and assembly of conveyors and materials handling equipment.

The Field Service Technician portion of this role is responsible for conducting routine service and maintenance work, responding to breakdowns and urgent repairs, making retrofits, and providing installation and supervision support for various projects. This includes inspecting equipment, identifying and resolving problems, and performing preventive maintenance.

It is crucial for the Fitter / Field Services Technician to adhere to company procedures and standards. This involves following safety protocols, using the appropriate tools and equipment, and documenting all work performed.

Some domestic and interstate travel may be required. Some after hours and weekend work may be required.

This is primarily an inward facing role:

Inwardly

liaising with the Operations Manager/Project Manager/Workshop Manager/Team Leader

liaising with the Engineering Team

liaising with the Procurement Team

Outwardly

liaising with customers

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Fitting & welding for light to medium gauge mild and stainless steel.

MIG/TIG welding, both mild and stainless steel.

Machining components.

Assembling parts.

You will be required to support the Service Team such as:

Implement and improve all aspects of regular, planned, and routine maintenance at customer sites.

Undertake all aspects of breakdown and repair and standby maintenance support at customer sites.

Be part of the company's “technician on-call” rotation, providing support and assistance outside of regular working hours as required.

Proactively ensure personal safety and the safety of others by complying with the Company's health and safety policies and procedures.

Ensure that the work is carried out to the Company's technical standards while adhering to agreed Company health and safety standards.

Respectful and appropriate handling of company resources.

Foster an environment of open, honest and respectful communication – particular where risk is concerned.

KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Trade Certificate.

Mechanical or Electrical qualifications, experience in both disciplines will be highly regarded.

Experience in manufacturing workshop fabricating and TIG/MIG Welding stainless steel and mild steel from 1mm to 5mm (Light Fabrication).

Experience in assembling mechanical components and equipment.

Ability to assemble and weld parts to a food hygiene standard.

Experience in fitting out conveyor type systems.

Experience using a lathe, mill and drill press. Press brake experience will be highly regarded.

Manual dexterity required for operating machinery.

Ability to lift to 15 kg required.

Ability to read drawings.

Self-sufficient – able to work autonomously.

Possess good communication and customer service skills.

Be able to work as a team.

Be able to provide/or pass a Police Clearance to access some of our customers sites.

Valid Australian driver's licence required.

Forklifting Licence, White Card, EWP Licence will be highly regarded.
