Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing
The Nursing / Midwifery Manager Aboriginal Maternal & Child Health is pivotal to the coordination of client care, service management and leadership of the nursing profession to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and efficient use of resources.

This position is responsible for leading, planning, coordinating and evaluating services; the effective management of all resources; and promotion of best practice to enhance client outcomes through staff development and research.

This position will manage the Aboriginal Maternal & Infant Health Service, New Directions Aboriginal Mothers and Babies Program, Otitis Media Program and other associated services and staff.

Essential Criteria:

  • Licence: Current NSW Driver’s License.
  • Registration in line with Award requirements: Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority.
  • Evidence of Diversity claim: Aboriginal and / or Torrs Strait Islander.

Selection Criteria:

  1. This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
  2. Demonstrated experience in the delivery of Child & Family Health Nursing Services and / or Maternal Health Services. and post graduate qualifications in child & family health nursing and/or midwifery.
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to motivate, manage and develop clinical staff and demonstrated effective planning, organisational, problem-solving skills and ability to lead in a changing environment, to prioritise workload, manage resources and meet deadlines.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the issues and health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and experience in working with Aboriginal communities.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner through the application of high-level written, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise.
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking to set goals, formulate plans and policies to achieve identified outcomes and to project manage and lead change initiatives.
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in the implementation of organisational change, risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
