We welcome applications from experienced and skilled violin and viola music instructors to join our vibrant co-curricular music program from Term 4, 2025. We have a thriving strings program and a highly motivated, collaborative and supportive music teaching team. The position is a fixed-term, full-time parental leave contract for 5 terms (commencement of Term 4, 2025 - end of Term 4 2026).
Key aspects of the role:
Plan and deliver high quality Violin and Viola instruction to students across a range of year levels and abilities
Provide ensemble direction of the Strings Program, with particular experience in Primary aged ensembles from beginner levels
Prepare students for performances at key school events
Prepare students for AMEB examinations
Manage administrative tasks including scheduling of lessons
Contribute to and participate in the overall musical life of the school, and assist where required with the planning and conduct of music within the school community
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performances and progress
Assist and contribute to the planning of public performances, workshops and camps
Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students and parents
Experience and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BMus) or equivalent
Current Working with Children Check (VIT registration preferred)
Current level 2 First Aid, CPR Certificate, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates or willingness to undertake training
Experience in directing ensembles
Experience in teaching AMEB curriculum and facilitating external examinations
Capacity and confidence to teach across a range of styles
