The Position
We are looking for a driven Test Engineer, with interests in power electronics and renewables, to ensure our suite of products meet our design requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with our Chief Technology Officer, who has led the development of our hardware platform from the ground up.
Job Duties:
In-house testing of grid connected solar and battery storage product with lab tools and test equipment to applicable industry standards (mainly AS 4777.2)
Verification and validation of product requirements to demonstrate the design is fit-for-purpose
Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and functional test cases for the product under test.
Design of Automated Test Equipment to Test the product through the production flow. This will involve:
Hardware PCB/jig design
Software design on Raspberry Pi’s using Python on a Linux OS
Troubleshooting and fault-finding electronic product issues from defective field units.
Support production/testing control issues with our contract manufacturers
Assisting the team with hands-on management and support of in-field installs of the solar and battery storage product at customer sites
Assisting the team with ongoing remote support of the installed fleet via our fleet management dashboard.
Maintain regular and clear communication with engineering team to understand the product functions and remedy defects discovered during test execution.
Responsible for maintaining a safe lab
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
University Degree in Engineering (Diploma or Trade Qualification also considered)
Several years of work experience in a hands-on environment with electronics or electrical components
Ability to work safely with 230V products without supervision.
Experience with power electronics, grid connected solar inverters, battery storage, or battery solar chargers
Hands on experience in assembly & testing of complex electronics and hardware
Strong documentation skills
Excellent fault-finding skills
