We’re now on the lookout for a proactive and energetic Hire/Transport Controller to join our Hallam team and help drive our expanding hire operations.
About the Role
This is a full-time, fast-paced and rewarding position offering career growth within a supportive and modern working environment. You’ll play a key role in our day-to-day hire operations and be the friendly, reliable point of contact for our customers and staff members.
Your responsibilities will include:
Taking customer enquiries and creating hire contracts for forklifts, telehandlers, and access equipment
Processing off-hires, raising invoices, and managing contract administration
Coordinating internal and external transport for timely equipment delivery
Planning fleet availability and sourcing equipment as required
Liaising with the workshop team to ensure equipment readiness
Assisting with account queries and status updates
Supporting the sales team with hire conversions and customer service
Occasionally assisting with yard duties and equipment movement (training provided)
Ensuring a seamless, professional, and customer-focused experience every time
What We’re Looking For
You’ll thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment where customer satisfaction and operational efficiency are key. You enjoy working with a team but can take initiative and work independently when needed.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in the hire industry or similar operational/logistics role (advantageous but not essential)
Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service and communication skills – both written and verbal
Solid computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly
A team-oriented attitude, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach
Well-presented, confident, and clear phone manner
A sense of humour and a great attitude!
