Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- develop, implement and review of service delivery improvement initiatives, programs and strategic priorities,
- undertake aspects of staff management including leave, performance and training to strengthen Tasmania Legal Aid’s service delivery capabilities in accordance with delegations
- Coordinate the provision of Tasmania Legal Aid’s Legal Help Program and Reception Service in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations in consultation with and support to the Associate Director Civil Law.
- Provide high-level advice and program related support to staff, clients and stakeholders.
- Provide professional advice, guidance, training and instruction to legal practitioners to support the achievement of effective program outcomes.
- In consultation with the Associate Director of Civil Law:
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and working groups as requested.
- Prepare reports as required by Tasmania Legal Aid or under funding agreements.
- Undertake legal research to assist in the development of program policy and legislation to support law reform and complex legal matters relating to the civil jurisdiction.
- Engage in service development, outreach and other community legal education activities.
- Perform such other professional legal work within Tasmanian Legal Aid as required.
Essential Requirements
- Admitted, or eligible for admission, as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania, entered upon or eligible for admission to the High Court of Australia.
- A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
Desirable Requirements
- A Legal Practitioner with more than 5 years’ relevant post-admission experience.
- Practical experience in managing or supervising others.
- Advocacy experience in litigation at tribunal and court level.
- Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence.
