Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- intake assessment of new proceedings to identify matters that may require directions;
- conduct of directions hearings and telephone conferences;
- review of incoming materials to assess and determine appropriate responses including the issuance of directions to parties or preparation of complex correspondence; and
- conduct of conciliation conferences and other ADR.
- Undertake timely case management of proceedings that fall within the General Division to either resolution or referral to hearing and determination in accordance with statutory requirements. Case management duties will include:
- Undertake all arrangements for proceedings to go to full hearing before Tribunal members including issuance of any notifications or notices and ensuring parties have complied with procedural requirements for a matter to proceed to hearing.
- Conduct mediation conferences between parties with a view to appeals being resolved by consent without the need to proceed to hearing. Prepare formal agreement documentation between the parties.
- Maintain the registry case management system for all documentation lodged and issued including assistance in the generation of reporting requirements.
- Provision of high-level advice to parties and members of the public regarding procedures of the Tribunal. Provision of guidance and advice to staff members of the Registry regarding Tribunal procedures and provision of research or advice regarding policies or procedural matters.
- Exercise any statutory decision-making functions conferred by legislation or through delegation by the President, Division Head or Principal Registrar including issuance of statutory notices.
- Undertake any additional duties within the expected range of work of the position.
Desirable Requirements
- Law degree or similar and/or extensive experience in conciliation and disputes in statutory decision-making environment.
- Current drivers licence
