Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Work Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Katherine. If you are passionate about promoting a safe and healthy work environment, we want to hear from you!
Position Summary:
The Work Health and Safety Officer is responsible for supporting WHS practices within the Council, coordinating health and safety systems, conducting training and inductions, and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in developing and implementing WHS systems and policies.
· Conduct WHS inductions and refreshers for all employees.
· Coordinate emergency evacuation procedures and drills.
· Maintain hazardous substance registers and material safety data sheets.
· Investigate near misses, incidents, and accidents.
· Conduct Alcohol and Other Drug testing within all locations.
Essential:
· Cert IV WHS or considerable experience in WHS.
· Working knowledge of Skytrust WHS software.
· Strong people engagement and organizational skills.
· Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and standards.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
Salary & Benefits:
· Base Salary: $86,864 – $95,537 per annum (depending on experience)
· Leave Entitlements: 6 weeks annual leave + 10 days personal/sick leave
