Electorate Officer - Administrative (EOB)
The office of Tim Watts MP is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Administrative Officer based in the Member’s Electorate Office in Newport, VIC.
Position Overview
Are you interested in Australian politics, local community issues and being part of change for good?
The work we do in the office of the Federal Member for Gellibrand is dynamic and meaningful. We need an Administrative Officer with the necessary judgement and expertise to help us meet the management demands of this role.
This role will require you to be highly motivated, a quick learner, as well as be able to work independently whilst also contributing to the overall functions of our small office in Melbourne’s West.

Roles and responsibilities:
· Managing the Members calendar.
· Triaging meeting requests and invites.
· Providing logistical support and advice
· Managing office and electorate expenses, including maintaining and tracking budgets.
· Liaising with the Department of Finance and IPEA
· Databasing, including key contacts database and register of interest’ maintenance.
· Managing travel bookings for the Electorate office.
· Assisting office to provide parliamentary stakeholders advice as required.
· Other office or electorate duties as directed by the Member of Parliament or Office Manager.
· The role may from time to time involve some travel to Canberra during parliamentary sitting weeks.
Applications should possess the following skills and experience
· Experience with inbox management and executive diary management
· Experience coordinating events and travel logistics
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
· Demonstrated exceptional organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure, multitask, prioritise tasks and problem solve to ensure deadlines are met
· Professionalism and discretion in handling complex and sensitive matters involving a broad range of stakeholders
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Demonstrated work ethic and ability to meet the demands and flexibility of an electorate office, an expectation of flexibility and working of additional hours is necessary
· An understanding of Australia’s system of government and parliamentary processes and an understanding of current social policy issues facing our community
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:
Total remuneration package up to $99,929.
A commencing salary of $86,506 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. Please note a 3.8% salary increase will take effect on 5 August 2025.
An additional optional allowance of up to $13,423 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work and any travel requirements.
Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
An employer contribution of 15.4% superannuation will be payable.

· An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
· The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
· Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
· The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.
