Domestic Family Violence Counsellors/ Therapeutic Case Manager

The Whitsundays are located in tropical north Queensland between Townsville and Mackay.

Our vision at Whitsunday Counselling and Support Inc is to work towards the prevention and reduction of violence in the community by providing professional support services to women, children, young people and families who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or are at risk of neglect or abuse.

Whitsunday Counselling & Support Inc. has a team of dedicated workers who support victims of Domestic and Family Violence, Sexual Violence, Specialist Family Counselling through education, empowerment, counselling and support. We provide case management, court support and counselling to people experiencing domestic and family violence throughout Whitsunday region, including Airlie Beach, Bowen, Proserpine, Collinsville and the Whitsunday Islands. We are a not-for-profit community-based organisation offering a range of confidential services, provided in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

The available positions:

Whitsunday Counselling and Support are seeking qualified and experienced Practitioners to join our dedicated supportive team of Counsellors and Therapeutic Case Managers.

The full time position for 76 hrs per fortnight will be based at our Bowen office. The hours of employment are flexible and also open for further discussion and part time/job share employment would be considered for suitable candidates .

The roles will vary as you will be required to part of the team that provide Case Management/Counselling for Domestic & Sexual Violence, provide Womens Health and Wellbeing support and deliver the embedded domestic and family violence specialist practitioners model at the Queensland Police Station.

This is dynamic role, that includes offering clients’ practical supports and requires the ability to work collaboratively with other organisations to help clients to meet their case plan goals.

Remuneration is based on qualifications and experience as per the Social & Community Services Employee classification in the Social Community Homecare & Disability Services Award. Full time wage range between $88,000 - $103,000 approximately.

We have additional benefits including non for profit and remote area salary sacrifice packages available.

A relocation allowance may be available for eligible applicants for the Bowen position.

Applicants need to currently hold:

Minimum qualification in Diploma of Counselling required; or

A university degree or above in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology or other related discipline is desirable.

A sound knowledge of the impact of domestic and family violence is desirable.

At least 2 years demonstrated experience working in a domestic and family violence field.

Eligible for membership with AASW, APS or ACA (or currently working towards gaining membership) is desirable.

Mandatory to commence employment - Blue Card (QLD clearance to work with children)

Current open drivers licence

Experience working with Police services would be an advantage but not mandatory
