Beaumont&Beaumont are assisting a Queanbeyan based law firm to find an experienced solicitor to join a dynamic and supportive team, just 20 minutes from the city CBD. The client is seeking a proactive, results driven Solicitor who is able to hit the ground running and manage their own practice area. Previous experience working in litigation (criminal and civil), family law, wills and estates would be advantageous.

Our client is a full-service law firm and has a strong history providing legal services to the Queanbeyan/Canberra region. Being a full-service firm, they provide legal services across a wide range of practice areas including criminal and civil litigation, property and conveyancing, building and construction, wills and estates, and commercial law.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced solicitor (or outstanding junior solicitor) to bring your legal experience and/or an existing practice to complement and enhance the team. You will work under direction from a partner, but will generally have the opportunity to work independently and be responsible for your own matters, and to also gain experience across the range of diverse legal areas that general practice affords.

This is intended as a long term role, and could be a wonderful career opportunity for someone looking at a establishing a long term practice in an existing firm.

Our ideal candidate:

Candidates with 2+ years PAE would be highly regarded, but applications from strong candidates with 1-2 years PAE will be considered

Ability to work under limited direction/independently

Ability to run your own matters or progress matters with only general direction

End-to-end experience with litigation including dispute resolution processes and running matters in court

Experience in other legal practice areas including wills and estates, general contract and commercial matters, and/or family law

Ability to work directly and effectively with clients

Proficient in legal research, including the analysis and interpretation of case law and legislation

Ability to work equally effectively in a team, but also independently under limited direction

Proactive mindset with the ability to act with initiative and progress matters

Highly professional manner and strong work ethic

Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Work with partners, lawyers and support staff to achieve outcomes for clients

Work under direction from senior staff but ultimately be responsible for managing and progressing matters, and meeting deadlines

Draft legal documents (including court documents), templates, letters and other correspondence

Be responsible for keeping your legal knowledge current

Manage emails, inboxes and other correspondence

Communicate effectively and appropriately with internal staff, clients and stakeholders (courts, government institutions, etc)

Conduct legal research

Potentially assist with matters outside of your practice area

Other details

Applicants must be admitted to practice in the relevant jurisdiction, and hold (or be able to quickly acquire) a Practising Certificate.

In-office role based in Queanbeyan NSW
