I'm Leonie Robinson – a Senior Speech Pathologist and Founder of Technically Speaking.

I founded Tech Speaking back in 2009.

It was a career change for me after seeing what a profound difference a Speech Pathologist made in our family’s life, having worked with one of my daughters.

Unfortunately, I came to realise that my first job in the field was less about assisting kids and their families and more about mountains of pointless paperwork…

I got to see my Supervisor about once per term…

And heaven forbid if you had a suggestion to improve how things were done…

Arduous admin made it impossible to make change!

To make matters more frustrating I remember being paid based on years of service (not on performance)…

So that motivated me to take things into my own hands.

14 years on and here we are.

At Tech Speaking we make a REAL difference in the lives of the kids who see us and the families that support them…

In order to do that, I realised that we had to create a culture and environment that allowed our Speech Pathologists to flourish…

And that requires a focus on two things…

Professional development and supportive mentoring and…

Personal development making you feel valued as an individual within a fun team.

On the professional front our Speechies enjoy both internal and external PD, weekly mentoring if required and there is always a Senior Speechie on site to provide support for the more challenging cases…

We all learn together and help each other through the tougher cases and more challenging conversations.

Learning, mentoring and support are not buzzwords used in a job ad…
