Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented In-House Financial Accountant or Management Accountant/ Book Keeper to join our growing team. This role is critical to supporting the financial health, compliance, and strategic decision-making of the business. The successful candidate will play a key part in managing end-to-end accounting functions, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and supporting executive management with accurate, timely financial insights. You will work with the owners and support their wider family group financial affairs along with supporting the childcare group.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.

Conduct monthly variance analysis against budgets and forecasts; investigate and report on variances.

Assist with annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasts for multiple childcare centres.

Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes in coordination with centre managers and admin staff.

Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations, including BAS, GST, PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax.

Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a regular basis.

Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as needed.

Develop and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.

Support with financial modelling and scenario planning for future centre expansion and new site feasibility.

Provide financial insight and performance metrics to guide strategic planning and operational decisions.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field.

CA or CPA qualification (or working towards).

2+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in multi-site service-based environments.

Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar).

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent time management, with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

High level of integrity and confidentiality.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable

Experience in the childcare, education, or healthcare sectors.

Familiarity with CCS (Child Care Subsidy) funding models and childcare centre operations.

Experience working in a growth-phase or multi-entity environment.
