Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The Partners, Providers, and Home and Living Group, Market Strategy Branch at the NDIA is seeking candidates to fill an EL2 Director, Employment and Social and Community Participation vacancy.

The Partners, Providers, and Home and Living Group is working to ensure the NDIS market is performing well. The NDIS market is the broader ecosystem that allows participants’ funding to be translated into tangible supports that enable participants to achieve their goals. It’s a crucial part of the Scheme's design.

The Partners, Providers, and Home and Living Group is comprised of three divisions: Partners and Providers, Home and Living, and Markets.

As the Director you, will lead the team responsible for the delivery of NDIS employment and social and community participation programs, including both core and capacity building supports that enable NDIS participants to participate socially and economically in their community.

You will oversee the continued implementation of initiatives to achieve the goals of the Participant Employment Strategy 2024-2026. You will also lead the development of work to create stronger participant outcomes through social and community participation supports.

Where you can add value

Duties may include but not limited to:

  • Lead the delivery of Employment and Social and Community Participation policy, programs and market stewardship activities.
  • Support the delivery of government and agency business through the preparation of high-quality briefing materials.
  • Provide effective leadership for a team of staff including HR management of three direct reports.
  • Contribute to an effective Branch leadership team and continuous improvement activities that support a strong branch culture and a positive workplace environment.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you

  • Leadership: Bring demonstrated leadership experience and skills in setting strategic directions and managing teams.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicates ideas, collaborates with others, and builds positive relationships.
  • Initiative: Shows dedication, initiative, and a commitment to achieving goals.
  • Knowledge: An understanding of employment and social and community participation objectives, programs and markets.
Your NDIA Experience

We work as one team. We are accepting, diverse and driven. We take a shared approach to making progress. We welcome and support each other and encourage different ideas, insights and opinions. We empower and enable each other to be our best. We collaborate, connect and work together to create a workplace that makes us proud. And while we're based far and wide across the country, we make sure nobody feels they are out on their own.

  • You will work for a socially inclusive and culturally diverse workplace, that is making a meaningful impact to the lives of more than 600,000 Australians.
  • Access to higher superannuation and above market leave entitlements.
  • Competitive remuneration and working conditions that support a positive work life balance.
