ABOUT US
Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Ngangkari Program supports ngangkari (traditional healers of Central Australia) to continue their work in communities, clinics and hospitals promoting and strengthening emotional and mental health and well-being.
Uti Kulintjaku is an award-winning initiative of the Ngangkari Program that supports mental health understanding. Led by ngangkari and senior Anangu, Uti Kulintjaku encourages deeper conversations about mental health and healing for Anangu and people working in Aboriginal health and related services.
This project involves Senior Anangu (Aboriginal people) across the tristate region of WA, NT and SA. It brings together the skills and knowledge of Ngangkari, mental health practitioners, NPY Women’s Council, and Council, and senior Anangu women with specific language and literacy skills from local communities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Worker supports the Uti Kulintjaku Women’s Team in the planning, delivery, and administration of projects that promote mental health, healing, cultural knowledge, and community wellbeing. This role works closely with Anangu women cultural leaders to ensure the effective coordination of workshops, bush trips, and creative initiatives across the NPY Lands.
