About the role

The role of Hotel Duty Manager is to ensure the effective operation of Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens across all Departments and provide total customer satisfaction. Your Duties Include:

  • Manages the operation of the Front Office team during assigned shift, will be the person in-charge during the absence of General Manager i.e. after-hours and weekends
  • Oversees purchasing activities; Participates in the development and implementation of processes and procedures for assigned Departments which support achievement of service and financial goals
  • Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing the Yes I Can! experience through performance that demonstrates the standards of genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations
  • Assesses and reviews customer satisfaction through monitoring ReviewPro and Tripadvisor, and disseminating information from our guests, both positive and negative to ensure information is communicated to all relevant Departments and follow through with appropriate action
  • Deal with all guest inquiries and complaints in a friendly and efficient manner with the overall objective of achieving guest satisfaction
  • Ensure all VIP guests are greeted and all requests and met in accordance with hotel and brand standards
  • Maintain current local knowledge to promote tourism services and area attractions
  • Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and that all staff are aware of their duties and responsibilities in the event of a major safety incident
  • Ensure that all maintenance issues within public areas and guest rooms are reported to the Maintenance Department in accordance to hotel procedure and that guest and employee security and safety is maximised at all times
  • Observing liquor laws and other laws and regulations, adhering to hotel policies and procedures. Ensures that all staff are aware of their legal obligations and hotel procedures regarding the handling of guest and staff incidents within the Hotel, and manage all emergencies, guest and employee accidents and act appropriately to achieve a satisfactory outcome

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of two years Duty Manager experience;
  • Strong computer systems skills including reservations and reporting systems; and Microsoft Office suite;
  • Strong financial acumen;
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to influence situations;
  • Able to collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork; and
  • Ability to work a rotating roster and flexible schedule

The successful candidate will have:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of Front Office
  • Be financially astute and have an eye for detail
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy in Opera, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Current First Aid & CPR certificate desirable
  • Current RSA qualification desirable
  • Current Food Handlers Certificate desirable
  • Current police check desirable
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • A positive approach to all delegated tasks and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Exceptional grooming
