About the role
The Legal team is offering a fantastic ongoing opportunity for a Principal Legal Officer with a focus on commercial and regulatory services. The role is responsible for providing clear, concise legal advice across a range of commercial transactions, including:
Contracts
Licenses
Intellectual property
Grants
Procurement
And will deliver strategic and solution-focused legal advice in areas such as:
ICT (Information and Communication Technology)
Corporate law
Commercial law
Regulatory matters
As Principal Legal Officer, you will provide expert legal advice on commercial matters, including contracts, procurement, intellectual property, and dealings with government entities. You’ll draft and review complex agreements, advise on contract variations, and support the negotiation of commercial transactions.
Your ability to simplify complex legal issues and prepare clear, outcome-focused documents—such as advice, submissions, and correspondence—is key to this role. You’ll work collaboratively with stakeholders across legislative projects, ensuring legal compliance, sound governance, and the achievement of strategic objectives.
This senior role is accountable for delivering high-quality legal services, aligned with policy, legislative requirements, and best practice standards.

About You
We're looking for a skilled legal professional with experience in one or more of the following areas:
Commercial or trade practices law
Administrative law
Policy development or the legislative process
If you thrive in complex legal environments and want to make an impact, this is your opportunity. To be eligible, you must be admitted (or qualified for admission) as a Solicitor or Barrister in the Supreme Court of NSW, and hold or be eligible to hold a current NSW Practicing Certificate.
