What you will be doing:
• Manage the Government Employee Housing capital program's work in progress ensuring compliance with the relevant Government financial legislation and departmental policies and procedures in relation to the accurate and timely capitalisation of assets.
• Contribute to the planning and development of the residential accommodation budget including forecasting depreciation and financial modelling analysis.
• Input to the financial components associated with reporting requirements including balance sheet assumptions in relation to property, plant and equipment and residential sales.
• Managing the revenue and expenditure budgets, forecasts and associated reporting cycles, corporate governance and overseeing other financial management activities.
• Undertaking the development of timely and accurate monthly management reports and other financial information to monitor the financial performance for key stakeholders.
• Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders to enhance communication for better business outcomes through participating in regular client meetings and maintaining frequent collaboration in order to appreciate and resolve emergent financial issues.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant Government legislation and departmental policies and procedures in relation to budget, financial, administrative and other corporate and operational issues.
• Undertaking systems improvements to continually improve financial and budget management and associated reporting in the SAP system, Business Warehouse and iSpace environments.

The skills you will need include being able to:
• Communicate (both verbal and written) including consultation, negotiation and liaison skills to a high level.
• Proven experience preparing accurate and timely financial reports and information to internal and external clients.
• Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement of systems, procedures and processes. Skills required in the SAP system, intermediate to advanced excel and Business Warehouse.
• Successfully contributed your expertise to achieve deadlines and manage competing priorities within agreed timeframes.
• Demonstrate public service professionalism and probity; and contribute to the continuous improvement of work practices, systems and processes.

Please note that due to the recent Machinery of Government change, this department is now the Department of Housing and Public Works.
