About the Role

Reporting to the Asset Engineering Lead, the Process Engineering Lead will be responsible for initiating and managing the scope, design, and handover of operations-related projects within the water and energy infrastructure portfolio. Working closely with both internal stakeholders and the capital delivery team, the role bridges the gap between operational requirements and engineering execution.

This is a highly collaborative and hands-on position, overseeing concept design, risk and compliance alignment, and consultant engagement across civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. The role also supports asset management functions and contributes to lifecycle planning, operational troubleshooting, and infrastructure strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Define user requirements and scope concept designs for operations-led infrastructure projects.
• Liaise with internal teams, capital delivery, and external consultants to align design and delivery outcomes.
• Manage the technical interface between operations and capital teams.
• Lead engineering input into project planning, cost estimating, risk identification, and contractor engagement.
• Support contract management and compliance monitoring in line with procurement policy.
• Provide operational engineering advice and technical input into lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and renewal planning.
• Oversee site inspections, reviews, and project handover to ensure asset readiness.

Skills and Experience

To thrive in this role, you will need:

• Degree in Engineering (Process-related discipline).
• RPEQ registration or eligibility.
• Proven leadership in engineering delivery for water infrastructure projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design inputs and external consultants.
• Ability to problem-solve complex issues related to SCADA, membranes, hydraulics, or pumping systems.
• Background in consultancy or client-side project initiation highly regarded.

Licences and Certifications

Mandatory:

• Queensland ‘C Class’ Driver's Licence
• General Construction Induction (White Card)

Desirable:

• HLTAID009 – Provide CPR
• RIIERR205D – Apply Initial Response First Aid
